Casino Baccarat gameplay

Once the game of choice for the wealthy, baccarat has become a table game accessible to all casino enthusiasts with the spread of online casinos. In the past this game was reserved to high-rollers only. Later, in the 2025s, a smaller version – mini baccarat – was developed, taking the game out of the VIP rooms of casinos. Even later it made its way online, becoming one of the most popular online casino games. Baccarat is present in the vast majority of online casinos all over the world.

The basic rule of baccarat is that only the rightmost value is counted. Card and hand values are calculated using specific rules in baccarat: Aces have a value of 1 point, numbered cards all have their respective values, and tens and face cards are worth zero points (actually, they are worth 10 points, but as their rightmost value is counted, that being zero, their point value becomes zero as well).

The same basic rule applies to evaluating hands in baccarat – only the rightmost value counts. For instance, a hand with a total of 17 (a 9 and an 8, for example) will have a value of 7. The goal of the game is to have a hand with a value of 9 or as close to 9 as possible. Hands are formed using at least two, but not more than three cards. The values of the cards is accumulated, and the rightmost value of the sum gives the point value of the cards.

Baccarat gameplay
In baccarat, players are not active participants of the game. There are only two hands dealt – one for the player and one for the house. The participants can decide on which hand they wish to bet. The options iclude betting on the player, betting on the house hand or betting on tie (the two hands having the same value).

The two hands are dealt and revealed. The hand values are calculated. Based on the value of the hands, the player hand might be required to stand or ask for one more card.

After both hands are served, the value of the two hands is compared and the winner is decided.

Bets on the player hands usually pay 1 to 1. Bets on the house hands also pay 1 to 1, but sometimes casinos retain a commission for these winnings.
The most lucrative (and the rarest) situation is the tie – payouts for bets placed on the tie are 8 to 1.
