Casinos Need New Bonus Types

In the last year and a half I have visited and reviewed tens of online casinos from all corners of the globe. New ones and old ones, US friendly casinos and even some destined especially for South Americans.

I have compared their offers, game variety and terms, and I found that the online gambling industry needs some fresh ideas – I have seen the same specials and bonuses all over.

The basic types of casino bonuses a player can benefit of are the following: no-deposit bonuses, deposit matches and comp points.

All casinos out there offer their players matches on their first deposits and further bonuses if they reload their accounts. The match percentage is up to 1000% (I must admit I have only found one casino with such a big bonus percentage) and operators always limit the maximum amount a player can get is limited by the operators to $2,500 per deposit (I also only found one casino with such a large amount).

No deposit bonuses are usually small and can be used for a limited time. A casino that offers no deposit bonuses to its players – amounts of play money with no need to make a deposit first – will usually limit the time in which the player can use the funds to a few days, and removes the original bonus amount from the player’s account (or what’s left of it) when the time expires. Also, the casinos limit the maximum amount of the winnings a player can keep, and ties it to a real money deposit.

One online casino I visited has combined these two into an innovative welcome package – a single case, not an industry standard. The casino gave new players a $100 free chip, which they had five days to make the most of. At the end of the five day period the final balance of the player determines how big a first deposit bonus the player gets – up to 1000%. It was nice to see a new idea – even if it is an innovative combination of two old ones.

Complementary points – or comp points – are offered to players for every dollar they spend at an online casino. The comp points can then be exchanged into either real life prizes – like electronics and memorabilia – or in cold, hard cash. Each casino has a loyalty scheme, offering players various benefits depending on the amounts they spend at the casino.

Fortune Lounge casinos – where you can play over 500 Top Online Casino Games provided by Microgaming – break the boundaries a bit. The operator offers its players group-wide promotions every month, offering them real money prizes, real life objects and even luxury cruises and experiences each year. Just look up “The Fortune Lounge Cruise” to see what I mean.

So, I think I can safely state that online casinos need some fresh ideas to set them apart from their competition – each of their competitors have the same bonuses and features as they do, after all. There are just a few groups or casinos that dare to be different… and this is not enough for such a heavily competitive industry.
